Imagine School Fundraiser Aids Family of Drowning Victim

“An accidental pool drowning claimed the life of a young Surprise boy earlier this summer, and the community is coming together to plan a fundraiser for the family and spread the word about watching kids around water.

On July 22, Maverick Thomas, an incoming kindergartner at Imagine Schools at Rosefield, died as a result of the drowning. Maverick was the son of Evan and Brooke Thomas, who also have two other young children.

Imagine Schools is stepping up to assist the family and is also asking the community to provide donations and lend its support to the Thomases in their time of need.

Several parents and teachers have planned a fundraiser, taking place 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the [public charter] K-6 school, for the Thomases.

The ‘Maverick Movement: A Celebration of Life’ is the community’s opportunity to not only come together in support of the family, but also raise money to alleviate some of the financial strains caused by Maverick’s sudden death.

The fundraiser will have a fall festival theme, with food, music, games and craft tables for families to enjoy. Attendees can also take part in a silent auction and raffle of items being donated by generous local businesses and individuals.

Imagine Schools is asking individuals, families and the business community to donate any items for the silent auction and raffle or food and drink for use at the fundraiser.

All monies raised during the fundraiser will go directly to the Thomas family.

Those who are on Facebook can join the ‘Remembering Maverick Thomas’ page, which will be updated with event details.”
