Imagine second-grader raises relief funds

“On Thursday, representatives from Imagine School of North Port presented the Southwest Florida American Red Cross with checks totaling $467. The funds were raised by students ranging in age from 5 to 7 years old to support Red Cross disaster relief.

In the days and weeks following the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, students and their families made and sold bracelets designed with red and white beads, representing colors of both the Japanese and Red Cross flags. The bracelets, which are still available, were sold for $3. The fundraiser was conceived by Imagine’s own Luke Benevides, a second-grade student at the school this past year. . .”
